Food Allergy Awareness Week 2017

Welcome to Food Allergy Awareness Week 2017! This week actually started on Sunday, not today which is Tuesday, oops. The month of May is Food Allergy Awareness month, but most states agree to having this week recognized. My state's governor did sign to have this week recognized this year! This year is also the 20th anniversary of Food Allergy Awareness week.
Every year Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) has a calendar of what to do each day for the week (and month) in May. They help spread awareness and the explain the importance of educating about food allergies. I encourage you to get involved. Here are the activities from this past Sunday to this Wednesday.
On Sunday May 14, 2017 the task was to read the timeline of food allergies on FARE's website. I actually looked at the timeline when it was first posted towards the start of the month and I thought it was really cool to learn about how much has changed over time.
The direct link to the timeline is here.
The task for Monday May 15, 2017 was to view a video on FARE's website. I have not watched the video yet, hopefully I will watch it soon.
The direct link to the video is here.
Today Tuesday May 16, 2017 had an activity to give a Be A PAL presentation, which is a presentation anyone can use to teach young children about food allergies. I have changed the program slightly in the past to work for students my age and it works well.
The direct link to the resources you can use to teach the program is here.
Tomorrow, Wednesday May 17, 2017 wear teal and share your photos with the #TealTakeover. Teal is the color for food allergies.
If you are interested in finding more information about the activities and importance of food allergy awareness week, the link to the website is here.
Thanks to FARE for the graphic I used for this post.
