Celebrating the 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!
Here are some allergy friendly tips for planning, staying safe and celebrating the 4th of July and any other summer barbecues.
Host your own 4th of July party! By hosting the celebration and inviting your family and friends to your own home you can guarantee all of your food will be safe. Of course you have to be willing to do all the prep work, cooking and cleaning.
Attend someone else's 4th of July party, but bring your own safe desserts to share. Desserts are the food items most likely to be unsafe and by bringing something you made you can ensure there is at least one safe dessert. You can also bring dishes to go along with the meal if you are really unsure if any of the food will be safe. When sharing food it is a good idea to take your food first in case of cross contact from shared utensils.
Do not worry too much about the food and just enjoy the celebration and fireworks. Ensure you have something safe to eat and do not stress too much about what others are eating in comparison. Remember it is not all about the food, it is about the experience. Have fun!
