Joining the FARE Patient Registry

Updated: May 26, 2020

Last week for food allergy awareness week I joined the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Patient Registry. It's something I wanted to do for awhile now, and being in quarantine and the semester ending, I have had some more time to work on things I have always wanted to do, but never had time for.

The FARE Patient Registry involved answering some questions and took less time than I had originally thought it would. Most of the questions were straightforward and I really only needed my most recent allergy blood test results and a little help from my mom to answer all of the questions.

I had to first give basic personal information and consent that I was okay with providing my information to FARE and that they may use it. Then I filled out a survey about my food allergies and then a survey about my mental health. There is another survey about food related allergic reactions, but since my last severe allergic reaction was when I was two years old, I skipped that survey. As that survey would be taken over and over again with each time of an allergic reaction.

It didn't take that long to answer all of the questions and it's cool to think that my information related to food allergies and mental health is counting in research and data now.

If you also have food allergies and are interested in joining the FARE registry you can visit their website here. If you are 18 and older you just have to provide your own consent and if you are under 18 you just need parent/guardian consent. Join today!
